I’ve posted a lot of Rube Goldberg machines, and I will continue to post about them as long as people keep making them. The time and creativity it takes to make them is always astounding to me. I first read about these on Gizmodo. Eat Me Daily has posted their top 10 food based Rube Goldberg machines. As always, enjoy….
Star Wars: Uncut
Star Wars: Uncut Trailer from Casey Pugh on Vimeo.
If I was more of a Star Wars nut, I might actually participate in this. Even though I am not, it is still a cool idea. Star Wars: Uncut takes Star Wars and breaks it into 15 second parts. People are allowed to claim their favorite scene, re-record it, and upload it. It gives the person recording the video free reign to interpret the part of the movie anyway they want. The only issue I can see happening is that the best parts have probably already been taken. And, who will actually shoot the non-exciting parts? Well, as soon as they create a site like this for Good Will Hunting or Pulp Fiction, I’ll be all over it. For now, I will just acknowledge the good idea and look forward to the final product.
Scribblenauts
I’m not much of a gamer, but after reading about this game in Wired, I want to go out and buy a Nintendo DS. Scribblenauts is based on something called emergent game play. Basically, you can help the hero, Maxwell, solve any problem any way you choose just by writing it in. For example, one of the earlier stages is getting a star out of tree. You could write “ladder” in order to get the star out. Or, you could type in “axe” to chop the tree down and get the star. Or, you can write “football” and knock the star out of the tree. From what I understand, the possibilities are endless. It seems like half the fun of playing the game is figuring out what is available and how you can use it. Most heroes have a select number of tools at their disposal to pass from stage to stage. Here…you don’t have that problem…
