Since I haven’t posted much lately, it might seem like I’ve been quiet recently with artwork. In truth, I haven’t had much to say. Plus, I’ve been holding back posting a few illustrations until they are ready to go on sale. In the meantime, I wanted to mention a few pieces I have recently based on my former home…Sydney.
First, I wanted to mention an illustration I did for a client in Sydney. Scavenger Hunts plan and implement themed scavenger hunts for corporate and private events in Australia. I was challenged to create an illustration that highlighted their many different programs in an Australian urban environment. On a personal level, I really enjoyed working with Australian imagery in order to finalize this piece since it was a nice reminder of my time in Sydney. The other positive thing to come from this was another Australia-themed illustration that I am very close to completing. And since Australia was back in my life, I decided to complete the above illustration. It is an artwork highlighting the two years my family spent in Sydney. The illustration includes significant details about our life in Sydney as well as the culture of Australia. I had the basic line drawing for this done in Illustrator but had set it aside to work on some other illustrations. I’m glad I was re-inspired to finish this work because the final look takes my flat factory style to another level. I’d like to try out some other illustrations in this style. I am toying with the idea of doing this for Chicago except it would include all of the relevant icons and imagery. To check it out a larger version of Sydney Factory, check it out in my portfolio.
