I completed this illustration about a month ago and I’m just getting around to posting it now. Above is a portion of a mural I completed for the Outback Bay Wave Pool at Jamberoo Action Park in New South Wales. They were replacing the previous mural since the elements had not been nice to it over the years. The mural is to be printed on large billboard-type material and then attached to the wall. I have not seen it myself, but hope to have a photo in the near future. In keeping with the simple design of the previous mural, I used very large areas of color and simplistic gradients on the final product. Over the entire mural, there are a number of waves and three surfers. At first, I had added too much detail to the surfers, so I scaled back the amount of shadows and focused on what would make the surfers recognizable. The goal was not to make a realistic representation. The mural is a little difficult to show online, so the detail above gives you the idea. If you would like to see the full mural, click here.
