Normally, I would finish an illustration before starting a new one, but I’m going to temporarily put this one on hold. All of the strokes for the breakfast machine have been outlined, and I have most of the fills in place, so I’ve made a lot of progress. My fear right now is that I’m going to rush to finish it without really making it pop. I still feel like I have a lot of design decisions to make and details to add. Many of the buttons and dials are just that…buttons and dials. They could really be a source of humor and detail. The texture is working for the pipes and metal but there are places where I have not used texture that might need it. For example, the rollers on the conveyor belts draw my eye in too much…in a bad way. Plus, I’d like to experiment with other textures. While I like what I’ve used, I just think it could be better. It almost came together too easy so I want to make sure I explore all of my options. I have another drawing that I have already started outlining…I’m hoping a few days away from it will be to the benefit of the illustration.
