When I think of New York City, I think of the brownstone apartment buildings. I don’t know if it has to do with The Cosby Show or any of the other countless movies and television shows that feature New York, but I feel this says “New York” more than the Statue of Liberty or Times Square. Obviously, it was important I put in a brownstone building. As I was finding images, I read that a lot of these brownstones are starting to being torn down and replaced which is shame. They are truly iconic.
Right now, it is just building but I plan on adding someone on the stairs and maybe someone in the window. Also, I will be adding another brownstone to the right. One of my favorite parts of this image is the addition of black. I don’t normally use black for anything other than outlining, but it seemed appropriate to use it for the railing, door, and window gates. I added the gray highlights so it had some dimension. You have to making it look too flat. And as much of a pin it is to add bricks…they always look cool when you are done.
