At first, I was going to save the Harbour Bridge for later, but I decided to jump feet first into it this week. I think I was a little intimidated because the bridge is so detailed, but I decided I needed to break it down to the most important elements. I also did something I have not done before with Chicago or Sydney…I did a more detailed sketch before using Illustrator. Since the bridge has so many crossing and overlapping parts, I thought that doing it only on Illustrator would be a big undertaking. It ended up being a smart decision. With the sketch, I was more focused on what I wanted to accomplish and most of the design decisions were already made. All I needed to do was fit it in with the style of the illustration. I’ve decided to continue that method for the rest of the buildings. The Queen Victoria Building is in the bottom left hand corner of the image above…it will be my next target!
