I thought I might want to go ahead and add a group page and fan page for my illustrations. These are new to me, but I wanted to extend my online presence a little more. So, here is my Facebook group page and here is my Facebook fan page. I’ll have to figure out the best way to use them…next.
The Next Landscape

For now, I’m going to put the monsters on hold. I’m stuck creatively. Monsters and mythical creatures are a little out of my comfort zone, so I want to let it sit in my brain for a while. So, I’m going to start my next landscape…Sydney. This will be different than Chicago since my perspective will be from a person who has only spent 4 days there…and whatever I find on the Internet. I’m excited because it will allow me to further my landscape theme with another city. I wanted to avoid doing a landscape for the sake of doing, but my wife and I loved Sydney so much that I know I will feel some passion toward this illustartion. Above is my rough sketch. Now, I need to decide what building to start with…
Gig Poster…Not What I Expected

I recently “completed” the Janelle Monae gig poster. I say “completed” because it is not really what I expected as I started to put it together in Illustrator. Something is missing…I just can’t figure out what it is. I liked this whole idea of weaving pipes or strips, but it seems way too…easy. I had originally wanted them to be metallic with gauges and switches on the end, but I bagged the idea when the metal was beginning to look cheesy. As of now, I’m going to set this aside. It is important for me to put some of these ideas into a more completed form so I can decide whether or not it is worth exploring. Sometimes, my sketches seem really cool on paper but never really turn into anything when I begin to polish them up. It helps to eliminate ideas and themes as I move forward and only stick with the visuals that stand out. I go through these swings where I really dive into one artwork for a period of time and then I just want time to…explore. Exploring time might be over. I think it is time to dive back into something more long term.
