Well, as the summer winds to a close, I thought I would give some announcements on what I have finished for the summer and what will keep me busy through the end of the year.
First, I wanted to say that it looks like Threadless will not be making my t-shirt design. I thought I would get an official “no” from them, but it has been close to a month, so that is probably a “no” right there.
I have made a few adjustments to my web site. I’ve organized my current style into one area of my site called Vectors. I have grown very comfortable and energized with this graphic style I’m trying to perfect in Adobe Illustrator. Many of the places that talk about organizing a portfolio say to stick with one style so people know what to expect if they would like to commission you for work. I was a little leery of sticking with one style since I did not want to just constantly push out the same thing, but I sort of organically arrived at this style that just works for me. I completed three musician comic book covers over the past couple weeks and they are currently on my site.
I am also still working on my Chicago 2010 artwork. It has almost been a labor of love for me. With the school year approaching, I have put it aside, but I’m hoping to finish piecing it together over the next month. If I do say so myself, it looks awesome. My next job is to find a way to make posters of the final piece and begin to sell it. That seems to be way out of my league right now, but I need to at least explore it. Plus, I have added another video blog to chronicle where I am at.
I am taking an Adobe Illustrator class at the School of the Art Institute and I plan to start another epic landscape type poster like Chicago 2010 very soon. I already have the initial idea and the drawings, so I just need to put it together.
Let the school year begin!
