I’m going to spend a couple days looking at my favorite movies. I’ve talked about movies before, but I guess I’m still trying to add to the Favorites category.
So, my favorite movie…Pulp Fiction. I think if I had been born in a different time period or if this movie did not come out at the time that it did, I don’t think I would rate it as the best. It came out right when I got to college, and I always joke that I never really watched movies until I saw this one. It just really caught my imagination. I saw it 7 times in the theater. The storytelling was immaculate. The jokes and the dialog were flawless. The acting was perfect. The whole concept was like something I had never seen before. The tension Taratino created when Vincent Vega is about to plunge the syringe into Mia Wallace’s chest was spectacular. Am I gushing?
The funny thing about this movie is that if I watch it 10, 15, or 20 years, I’ll bet I won’t think it is all that good. Like I said, I think I saw it at the right time. I remember seeing a A Clockwork Orange for the first time like 25 years after its release and I wasn’t all that impressed. I guess I see these films as similar in terms of their impact on that time period. I digress…I think I will always see Pulp Fiction as my favorite, though.
