		<description>I read this a while back, and it had a profoud effect on how I view things around me as well. At the same time it was a bit discouraging because the multinational corporations&#039; reach seemed so pervasive that there wasn&#039;t much you could do. But I think the point is that the book makes you think, makes you question things around you, the decisions you make, etc. I do like the angle you found about culture and participation. It echos some of the things I heard at a conference I attended this week -- one guy mentioned that music used to be a pretty democratic thing, where most people picked it up and participated in it, one way or another. Then came the recorded music -- and the mode changed to consumption of the music rather than participation. There is a lot of voice out there that agrees with you, Joe. People want to hear from other people, not just a few corporations. Trends on the web/elsewhere are reflecting this, so you have much to be encouraged about.</description>
